Description from the seller
Station Neustadt 2067 from the manufacturer VAU-PE, dating from 1959
The VAU-PE Modellspielwaren und Formenbau GmbH was one of the major pioneers of West German model railway accessories in the postwar period. Although the company no longer exists for almost 40 years, the distinctive models enjoy cult status among collectors today.
Founding date: July 1, 1950.
Founders: The company arose as a cooperation between Theodor Voigt and Friedrich Poppitz.
The name: “VAU-PE” is a phonetic abbreviation derived simply from the initials of the founders: Voigt (Vau) and Poppitz (Pe).
Headquarters: Started in Neukirchen (Knüll), VAU-PE Friedrich Poppitz KG later moved, and it was primarily connected with its works in Neukirchen (Ziegenhain district) and later Wangen im Allgäu.
The Era Wood-Cardboard (from 1952):
After Voigt split off in 1952 (and went his own way), Friedrich Poppitz massively expanded the range. This was followed by the typical ready-made models in a wood, cardboard, and architect’s plaster mix (often with real sawdust-textured plaster). The buildings had an unmistakable, somewhat plainer but very charming style compared to Faller.
In the early 1980s, changed leisure habits, the rise of electronic toys, and declining birth years across the entire model railway sector left little room for success. Since another business success was not foreseeable, Friedrich Poppitz decided in good time and debt-free to make a clean cut: production was completely stopped in 1985.
The model:
The HO model “Bahnhof Neustadt” with goods shed (item 2067) from VAU-PE, introduced in 1959, is a classic ready-made or kit model in a wood-cardboard composite construction with plaster texture.
The model in 1:87 scale occupies a base area of about 25.5 cm x 13 cm and is classified in Era III.

Condition is very good for its age.
