Description from the seller
Baccarat – "Bambou Tors" Art Nouveau crystal perfume bottle with stopper – Cranberry overlay crystal – France – ca. 1900–1915
An elegant antique perfume bottle by the renowned French crystal manufacturer Baccarat, executed in the celebrated "Bambou Tors" (Twisted Bamboo) pattern.
This refined model is documented in early Baccarat catalogues from the beginning of the twentieth century and beautifully reflects the Art Nouveau fascination with natural forms. The spiralling bamboo-inspired ribs create a remarkable play of light, while the rich cranberry-red colour gradually fades into clear crystal, demonstrating the exceptional mastery for which Baccarat became internationally renowned.
The bottle retains its original multi-faceted crystal stopper, perfectly complementing the elegant silhouette. Like many Baccarat pieces produced before the mid-1930s, this example is unsigned, which is entirely consistent with its period of manufacture.
Originally intended as a luxury perfume, toilette bottle, it is today a highly decorative collector's object and a beautiful addition to an Art Nouveau, Belle Époque or fine crystal collection.
Condition
Very good antique condition with normal traces of age and use. Minor wear consistent with its age. In the catalogue, however, it is listed with a different type of stopper. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
Dimensions
Height: approx. 16.5 cm
Diameter: approx. 6.5 cm
Weight: approx. 400 g
