Figurative silver table clock with a female figure supporting it – Historicism, German 13-lot silver case, movement signed Joseph Kugler in Vienna, ca. 1870–1890

Exceptional and very decorative figurative silver table clock in the style of Historicism. A classically draped female figure in antique-toned attire carries the round clock case with raised arms – a rare and artistically ambitious motif.
The clock case with a finely profiled and richly chiselled rim rests elegantly on the figure’s arms. The dial shows Roman hour indices and a decoratively radially structured center. The clock is wound via the original key fixed to the base.
The stout, bell-shaped base with four sculpted paw feet is elaborately ornamented. The entire case is made of solid 13-lot silver (812.5/1000). On the base are the marks: master mark in an oval with a scrolling monogram, rectangular 13-lot mark, and a small cloverleaf control mark. Stylistically and technically this is a high-quality German work, particularly common in Hanau and comparable workshop centers.
The movement is signed “Joseph Kugler in Vienna” and is of excellent quality: chain fusee, richly engraved plate, elaborately decorated balance bridge, and fine workmanship. A beautiful example of the combination of a Viennese movement with a German Historicism silver case.
A rare, extremely decorative and collectible object with strong presence, which fits perfectly as a representative mantel or table clock.

We deliberately did not test the delicate movement, as we want to minimize any risk and preserve the original condition as much as possible. Therefore we cannot say with certainty whether the clock is currently running. The original key is fixed to the base.
