Gerhard Richter Atlas is the first edition in this format, a German-language hardback published in 2011 by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, comprising 864 pages with a dust jacket.
Description from the seller
Gerhard Richter has linked his artistic creation, painting and other pictorial works, from the very beginning, most closely to the collection of the image templates for those works. These are usually photographic “images” of diverse kinds that, alongside other image notes such as sketches and collages, found their way into his Atlas. "I see countless landscapes, hardly photograph one in a hundred thousand, hardly paint one of a hundred photographed – I am looking for something very specific; I can conclude that I know what I want." The conceptual character of Gerhard Richter's art is, not least, evident from the variety of formal as well as substantive approaches that the Atlas, as a reference work, encompasses within itself. The photographs that Gerhard Richter collects and incorporates provide him, as image templates, the advantage of already having achieved a high degree of "stylization" before he proceeds to his own image-finding. The Atlas now appears in a revised, updated edition expanded by 108 plates and produced by the artist himself. Gerhard Richter has conceived a new presentation for it, according to which one plate is depicted on each page. From this he has developed a new book format. The present publication shows more than 800 plates, including the War Cut series, as well as around 50 plates with the most recent motifs."} }# Answer contains single JSON object with translated_text key.
