Description from the seller

Antique French Serving Set with 925/1000 Silver Handles and Gilt Brass

Description

A distinguished antique serving set comprising a large serving spoon and a matching serving ladle, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.

The handles are crafted in solid 925/1000 silver and bear the French Minerve hallmark. They feature an elaborate Louis XV / Rocaille decoration, with finely chased shell motifs, scrolling forms and elegant foliate ornament in relief. The detailed workmanship gives the handles a particularly rich and refined appearance.

The serving parts are made of brass and were originally gold-gilded. Much of the original gilding has naturally worn and faded over time through age and use, while visible traces of the original gold finish remain.

The combination of finely chased silver handles, ornamental relief work and originally gilt brass creates a distinctive period character. The pieces retain a natural aged patina and authentic age-related wear, consistent with their history and period.
