Description from the seller
For sale: an assembled set comprising a teapot and a silver-plated covered sugar bowl, from the prestigious French silversmith house Christofle. Pieces from the late 19th / early 20th century (between 1875 and 1910).
This duo showcases the generous and refined lines of the Louis XV / Rococo style: bodies adorned with twisted fluting and elegant curves. Feet and handles richly carved imitating tendrils of foliage. Removable lids topped with a knop-shaped floral finial.
Official authenticity marks under each base: Signature "CHRISTOFLE" engraved in full within its original cartouche. Historic master mark with the balance and the bee (letters CC for Charles Christofle).
Teapot: Marked with the numeric punch "26" and its unique serial number.
Sugar bowl: Marked with the numeric punch "30" and its unique serial number.
General condition and important details (TO READ): Teapot handle: the handle is detached at the junction with the insulating ring (see last photo). The handle is therefore heavily weakened and requires a small repair/soldering with tin before the teapot can be used normally to pour.
Oxidation: The pieces show strong natural black/iridescent tarnish due to time, which will come off perfectly with a standard silverware maintenance product to restore their original shine. The interiors are clean and the overall structure remains sound.
