Original SIP Telecom Italia triangular sign from the 1980s–1990s, metal with an internal structure, 47 × 30 × 30 cm, in used condition with probable small parts missing.
Description from the seller
Triangular SIP Telecom Italia original neon sign from the 1980s-1990s
Fascinating original SIP sign – later Telecom Italia – an authentic urban decor element that tells of an era now gone, when telephone booths were an essential reference point in Italian cities. This specimen, with its characteristic three-faced triangular shape, was installed atop public telephone booths, making them immediately recognizable even from a distance thanks to the iconic symbol of the red handset enclosed in a circle.
Made of rigid plastic with an internal structure and a zinc-plated metal support, it still retains its original look with evident signs of age that enhance its vintage charm: light opacities, patina, and signs of use consistent with its age, elements that testify to its authenticity and real street-use. The Telecom Italia logo with the typical red bands is clearly visible on every side, as is the straightforward, immediate graphic design typical of the 1980s/1990s.
The triangular structure provides 360-degree visibility, just as it did in urban installations, while the metal base with a central hole facilitated mounting on top of the booths.
An ideal piece for collectors of mid-century modernism, advertising signs, or industrial memorabilia, but also perfect as a striking decorative item for vintage environments, lofts, shops, or creative studios. A nostalgic symbol of analog communication, capable of evoking immediately an era made of tokens, phone cards, and waiting in the rain.
Rare to find complete and in these conditions, it represents an authentic testimony to the history of Italian telecommunications.
