Description from the seller
Pair of silver Weimer Co. hearing aids — United States, 1920s.
Rare and remarkable pair of old Weimer Co. hearing aids, made in the United States in the 1920s. These objects provide an interesting historical testimony to the evolution of hearing technologies and the history of medicine in the early 20th century.
At that time, hearing aids were often manufactured in small batches or to order. Their compact design represented a significant technological advancement and allowed for more discreet use than earlier devices. Today, such objects hold particular interest for collectors specializing in the history of medicine, antique medical instruments, and historical technical artifacts.
Both devices feature a beautiful silver finish as well as the manufacturer's raised logo. The inscriptions “RIGHT” and “LEFT” are clearly engraved on each device, indicating respectively the right and left sides.
The set is accompanied by a handmade Indian heart-shaped box, adorned with hand-crafted blue floral motifs.
The set is in very good condition given its age and represents a nice balance of historical interest, craftsmanship, and aesthetic appeal.
