Description from the seller
Vintage Dutch teastove with a hammered copper teapot
A special and atmospheric vintage Dutch teastove with its accompanying hammered copper teapot, consisting of a finely designed oak wood holder, an metal inner bowl, a SI-ring, and a distinctive copper teapot.
The teastove is finished in dark brown oak and features an elegant open-worked body with several curved vertical wooden slats. The holder rests on a nicely turned central foot and a wide, round base with decorative extensions. The combination of warm wood and the open design gives the stove a distinctive character.
At the top sits the metal inner bowl, around which the si-ring on which the teapot rests. The inner bowl was intended to hold a small heat source, such as a condenser with glowing charcoal. The heat was thus directed to the teapot above, keeping the water or tea warm for a longer period. The charcoal was placed in the metal inner bowl or heat holder, and not directly in the wooden part.
The accompanying hammered copper teapot forms a beautiful whole with the teastove. The pot has a round, bulbous body and is made in a combination of red copper and yellow/gold-colored copper. The hammered finish provides a lively surface. The teapot is equipped with a gracefully curved spout, a large curved handle, and a decorative lid with a round knob.
Although such teastoves originally served a practical function in keeping tea warm, they are today mainly loved as decorative and nostalgic interior pieces. This generous version is also a striking object due to the combination of dark oak and warm copper. The set can be nicely placed on an dresser, sideboard, or in a classic, country, retro, or eclectic interior. Also in a kitchen, dining room, conservatory, or library, this atmospheric combination comes into its own.
The si-ring on which the teapot rests shows a few small dents, fitting the age and use. Furthermore, the set forms a beautiful and decorative whole, with the various parts well coordinated.
