Meissen porcelain ornamental bowl with two large handles, heavily gilded with matte and shiny gold designs, central floral garden scene, dating to c. 1750–1800, model B-form by E. A. Leuteritz, in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
Description from the seller
Magnificent large vintage decorative bowl with handle, rectangular shape, heavily gilded, in excellent condition.
This wonderful bowl has two large handles and is adorned with heavy matte and shiny gold designs on glazed porcelain. The central field features a colorful floral garden with a splendid bouquet.
A versatile piece that can serve as a valuable centerpiece or as a display piece in a cabinet. Extremely rare!
Created between 1844 and 1855, the "B-Form" service by Ernst August Leuteritz, it is a radiant example of Meissen historicism. Characteristic of this style is the generous inclusion and even fusion of elements from preceding eras, especially from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo periods.
This masterpiece of European table culture is nothing short of splendid, almost ostentatious – with elaborate reliefs in 23-karat gold inlay. Such elegant porcelain, often fully decorated with painted ornaments and gold, catered to the appetite of the wealthy bourgeoisie of that era to demonstrate their wealth and status.
At the International Exhibition of 1867 in Paris, the Meissen service quickly became one of the bestsellers of the Meissen manufactory. The name, however, has more pragmatic origins: the "B" was the code for the original form number in the Meissen archives. (Meissen.com)
Floral painting on porcelain has a long tradition at the Meissen manufactory, which has grown steadily over the centuries and continues to this day.
The bowl is in excellent condition, with two rubbing marks, the back featuring the blue crossed swords Meissen mark, NO chips, NO cracks, and NO repairs. Please refer to the images, as they are part of the description.
