Description

An interesting collection of finely carved antique/vintage decorative elements, characterized by rich ornamentation of volutes, leaves and vegetal motifs. The lot bears a strong historicist imprint and could be particularly appealing to collectors, restorers, antique dealers, or as material for recovery and completion of furniture, frames or architectural elements.

From the photographs the lot appears composed of four separate elements, differing in shape and decorative function:

* a large symmetrical frieze with horizontal development, richly worked with opposing volutes, foliate motifs and a centrally shaped element;
* a smaller element, also carved and equipped with a metal hinge/pin, which could originally have been associated with a movable part of a piece of furniture or a decorative structure;
* a long asymmetrical volute frieze, with a wide “C” motif and vegetal development, ending with carved leaves. On the back/surface there is also a small metal eyelet;
* a small shelf or ornamental support element, more elaborately worked, with vegetal motifs and a figurative decoration on the upper part that evokes a mascaron or stylized face.
