Description from the seller
Atlas Supply Co. vacuum-tube American radio, model NU/6, manufactured in the United States in the late 1940s.
The radio features an attractive curved wood case, with grooved moldings at the top, a large front floral textile decoration in a gold tone in very good condition, and a horizontal glass dial with a middle-wave scale, with two side lighting points. The dial bears the ATLAS brand and the Broadcast 55–160 kilocycles scale.
The original label preserved on the base identifies the device as “ATLAS – Model NU/6 Radio” and specifies power supply of 105–125 V, 50–60 Hz AC or DC, consumption of 30 W and reception range of 535 to 1620 kilocycles. It also states “Manufactured for Atlas Supply Co., Newark, N.J.” and “Made in U.S.A.”.
The interior retains the metal chassis, the speaker, and the vacuum-tube assembly. The technical schematic corresponding to the Atlas Supply Co. NUP/NU6 models is part of the lot documentation and shows the original layout and circuitry of the device.
The lot also includes an era-appropriate wire antenna, consisting of a long metal coil suspended between two ceramic insulators. This type of antenna was mounted extended on a wall or window frame and connected by cable to the receiver.
Operating at 105–125 V, its current working condition is unknown as there is no suitable transformer. According to available information, it worked when removed from service, but due to its age and the time elapsed unused it is offered as a unit that needs servicing and is declared not functioning.
It shows normal signs of age and use on the wood, the fabric front, the chassis, and interior components, visible in the photographs, which are part of the description.
It is shipped properly packaged and with a tracking number.
