Description from the seller
Ancient Lecce papier-mâché crucifix (1800) on a newer wooden cross.
Excellent craftsmanship, generally good condition of the papier-mâché, as visible in the photo.
The sculpture appears repainted, but has no damage; the papier-mâché is solid and in excellent condition. From the face one can glimpse the original colors that enhance the sculpture's plasticity. The cross is certainly more recent, probably replaced.
The crucifix, by its design, forms, and colors, belongs to a renowned Lecce papier-mâché workshop of the era.
Measurements
Cross: 79 cm x 40 cm
Christ: 42 cm (head to feet) x 31 cm (arms)
IMPORTANT:
The item can be shipped also outside the European Union.
For territories classified as islands or considered difficult to service or not easily served, and for territories outside Italy, we reserve the right to recalibrate the shipping, as shipping companies provide a surcharge based on the area, taking into account the volume and weight of the package on a case-by-case basis.
