Antique Chinese rug – Aubusson floral style – 1950-1960 – 257 × 164 cm

We present an elegant antique Chinese rug, made between 1950 and 1960, with a refined floral design inspired by Aubusson.

The rug is made using an old technique of manual tufting, in which the wool tufts are worked by hand on a cotton backing. On the reverse, the structure is stabilized with a traditional fixing compound that holds the tufts in place, and finally protected by a textile lining.

The pile is worked and cut by hand, creating the lovely raised texture characteristic of this type of rug. It features a very elegant decoration, with a large central floral medallion and numerous motifs of flowers and leaves, combined in soft tones of green, beige, pink, and brown.

The rug is in very good condition considering its age. It preserves the pile very well and shows no tears or significant wear.

The protective backing lining shows stains and signs of aging, clearly visible in the photographs. For this reason, we recommend professional cleaning.
