AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pair of Art Deco Armchairs for Center Room in Rosewood Burl – 1930s

Splendid pair of original Art Deco-era armchairs, characterized by imposing, elegant, enveloping lines typical of high cabinetmaking design of the 1930s. A perfect combination of luxury and geometric linearity, ideal to give any room a touch of authentic outstanding mid-century modernism.
Finish: All-Around (Center Room)
Unlike many pieces of the period, these chairs feature a full-round, top-quality craftsmanship: both the large solid side bands and the back of the backs are entirely upholstered in the same fine, figured rosewood burl. The wood grain develops into an inverted “V” mirrored, creating a splendid geometric symmetry that allows the pair to be placed freely in the center of the room.

Condition and Restoration
The chairs have recently undergone conservative restoration of the superficial wood, which has preserved and enhanced the splendid contrasting original patina of the wood.

• Structure: Solid, robust, and in perfect structural condition.
• Signs of time: As authentic pieces from the era, the surface shows occasional light abrasions and small losses of the protective polish due to years of use, especially along the upper edge of the arms. Details consistent with age that testify to their history and authenticity.
• Upholstery and Covering: The vintage upholstery in Bordeaux / reddish-brown imitation leather is heavily worn and cracked. The chairs will require a complete reupholstery and new fabric or leather covering. The old covering, however, serves as an excellent template for restoration.

Structural Notes for the Upholsterer (Major Technical Advantage)
As clearly visible in the images with the pieces separated, the chairs are designed with removable seat frames that slot together. This refined traditional structural feature greatly facilitates future upholstery work (for both tying the internal springs and laying the new fabric), dramatically reducing time and cost for the buyer. The internal load-bearing frame, solid wood crossbars, and corner reinforcement blocks are structurally sound, original, and in excellent condition.
