Description from the seller
Natural geometries of purple and white quartz with iron inclusions — This lot features an imposing section of Chevron Amethyst from Tanzania, expertly mounted on a black metal base with a minimalist design. The specimen stands out for its remarkable size and its spectacular internal structure, where the iconic “chevron” (V) bands create a geometric pattern with a strong visual impact. The main surface, cut and polished, reveals a microcosm of crystals and colors, transforming a geological fragment into an authentic natural sculpture. Direct observation of the sample allows the appreciation of the complex color weave. Intense bands of dark purple amethyst, almost black in places, alternate with layers of milky white quartz and more translucent clear quartz areas. This alternation is not random but follows a precise angular pattern that gives rise to the characteristic V motif. Further enriching the chromatic composition are veins and spots of reddish-brown color, attributable to hematite or goethite inclusions, that insinuate themselves between the quartz layers, creating a warm contrast with the cool tones of the violet. The outer edge has been left in its natural state, showing the rough and irregular surface of the original crystal mass. Mineralogically, Chevron Amethyst is a variety of quartz that testifies to a discontinuous growth process. It forms within fractures and cavities of rock, where silica-rich hydrothermal fluids were deposited in successive stages. Temperature, pressure, and chemical composition variations of the fluids produced alternating growth of amethyst quartz (its color deriving from iron traces naturally irradiated underground) and white quartz. The orientation of the crystals during their growth along the cavity walls determines the formation of these fascinating V-shaped geometries, making each specimen unique. The generous dimensions and the aesthetic quality of this slice make it a piece of great interest both to mineral collectors and to interior designers. Its slender form and the richness of internal details qualify it as a display piece, capable of drawing attention in any setting. Placed on a bookshelf, a console, or in a professional studio, this specimen acts as a focal point of natural elegance. It is a perfect piece for a modern “Cabinet of Curiosities” or Wunderkammer, a dialogue between nature’s wonder and design taste. The custom base, included in the lot, ensures a stable and elegant presentation, ready to be admired.
