Russian Orthodox triptych in brass featuring a central depiction of Archangel Michael, executed in relief and decorated with blue enamel. The foldable character makes this a typical travel icon for personal devotion.

Description
On the central panel, Archangel Michael is presented frontally and winged. He wears richly decorated robes and holds his traditional attributes in his hands. Around the figure is a geometric pattern, the recessed portions of which are filled with blue enamel.

The two hinged side wings contain several smaller Biblical and religious depictions in separate registers. Here too the background is provided with blue enamel. Above the central panel there is a crown with an additional religious relief, while the upper edges of both side wings also depict figurative scenes.

The triptych can be fully folded shut and was thus suitable to take along as a personal travel icon. The combination of detailed cast metalwork, multiple depictions and the blue enamel is characteristic of Russian brass icons from the 19th century.

In reasonable condition with clear signs of age and wear. The brass shows wear, discoloration, patina and localized oxidation spots. The enamel shows localized wear and loss.
