Italian-made Stilart console in Art Nouveau style, model Dos Cajones, with black lacquered wood and brass legs, two central drawers with floral motifs, dimensions 103 x 35 x 78 cm, dating to 1970–1980, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Elegant Italian entry console produced by the firm Stilart during the 1970s, a piece that perfectly reflects the taste for oriental exotism and refined luxury that characterized much of European decorative design of those years. Its light and stylized structure combines architecture inspired by modern forms with elaborate artisanal work on black lacquered wood, evoking the refined Oriental lacquers that fascinated Western designers and decorators since the early 20th century.
The rectangular body is organized around two central drawers, decorated with delicate floral motifs and sinuous branches executed in gold and polychrome tones, an ornamentation that also extends over the upper surface. These scenes recall the vegetal compositions of the Japanese Edo period, reinterpreted through the Italian decorative sensibility of the seventies, when Oriental influences experienced a notable resurgence in luxury interiors in Europe and North America.
The structure rests on slender metal legs finished in gilt brass, a characteristic Stilart feature that provides visual lightness and a striking contrast with the intensity of the black lacquer. The lower curved reinforcements, with a geometric and elegant stroke, introduce a sophisticated nuance close to neoclassical glamour and Hollywood design that triumphed during the era.
The result is a piece with great decorative presence that combines functionality and aesthetic refinement. Ideal as an entry console, side table, or accent element in eclectic, contemporary classic, or Orientalist chic-inspired environments of the seventies, it stands out for the quality of its execution, the richness of its finishes, and the harmonious fusion between Japanese decorative craftsmanship and the Italian interpretation of luxury.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
