Description from the seller

Set of three impressive antique hand-blown glass witch balls (also known as hanging glass spheres), comprising two deep cobalt-blue examples and one silvered mercury-glass example.

Originally suspended in windows, entrance halls or fireplaces, witch balls have been part of European folk tradition since the 17th and 18th centuries. According to old English folklore, their reflective surface was believed to attract and trap negative energy or evil spirits before they could enter the home. Besides their symbolic meaning, they became highly appreciated decorative objects in Victorian and Edwardian interiors and remain sought-after today by collectors and interior designers.

The two cobalt-blue spheres display a beautiful deep sapphire colour with characteristic reflections and subtle air bubbles from the traditional mouth-blown production process. The silver-coloured sphere is internally silvered, creating the typical mercury-glass mirror effect that made these ornaments so popular during the late 19th and early 20th century.

These elegant spheres fit perfectly into both antique and contemporary interiors and make striking decorative pieces displayed in a window, suspended from the ceiling, or incorporated into an autumn or Christmas arrangement.

This isn't our specialty, but I think it's so beautiful and have always used it at Christmas.
That is why I looked up the information and found this explanation regarding it.

Condition
Very good antique condition consistent with age and use.
The two blue spheres remain in particularly attractive condition. The silvered sphere shows more visible wear and age-related patina to the mirrored interior, entirely consistent with its age and adding to its authentic antique character.

Dimensions
Diameter: approx. 15 cm each
Total weight: approx. 750 g
