One illustrated Arabic prayer manuscript by Kashmiri, titled Illustrated Prayer Manuscript, 1 page, dating to 1780, in good condition with diagonal cloud-shaped panels between blue and gold triangles and a gold Sun heading, featuring a ghazal on love and spiritual longing.
Description from the seller
A superb contemplative miniature prayer manuscript (12x6cm) in very good condition, showing few signs of handling.
The text is set diagonally in cloud-shaped panels (chalupa layout), between blue and gold triangles, a format typical of poetry albums and anthologies (muraqqa) from the Safaivid to Qajar periods. It is crowned with a lovely gold decorative 'Sun' heading. The key theme within this ghazal, are love and spiritual longing, in which the beloved makes a promise of faithfulness.
This is likely to have been a travelling book because of its small size which makes the condition more remarkable.
Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing.
Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country.
