Description from the seller
Joan Miró (1893–1983) – Derrière le Miroir No. 29–30 – 2 Original Color Lithographs – Maeght, Paris, 1950 – Cramer 23
Offered is the Miró-dedicated issue Derrière le Miroir, Nos. 29–30, May–June 1950, published by Maeght Éditeur, Paris, on the occasion of the Miró exhibition at Maeght Gallery.
A significant early Miró edition of the legendary art magazine Derrière le Miroir with two double‑page original color lithographs by Joan Miró.
The lithographs already show Miró’s unmistakable visual language characterized by luminous primary colors, biomorphic figures, zodiac signs, curved lines and freely set abstract forms.
Bibliographic information:

Derrière le Miroir, No. 29–30
Paris, Maeght Éditeur
May–June 1950
8 pages, loose sheets as issued
Format approx. 38 × 28 cm
2 double‑page original color lithographs
unsigned and unnumbered as issued
Catalogue raisonné: Cramer 23
The two original lithographs each unfold over a double page and, when opened, reach a format of approximately 38 × 56 cm. The central fold is thus part of the original publication format and not damage added later. Fach- und Handelsquellen confirm for this issue two double‑page original lithographs.
What is particularly interesting is the contemporary reference to Tristan Tzara’s Parler seul, which Miró illustrated with numerous original lithographs. The edition data depicted in the issue documents the production of these lithographs at Mourlot Frères in the years 1948–1950.
Condition:
For a artist publication over 75 years old, overall good, collectible condition. Signs of aging and use as well as light paper aging are present. The strong colors of the lithographs are very well preserved. Central folds corresponding to the original publication format. The exact condition can be gleaned from the numerous photographs; they are part of the description.
The description and bibliographic classification were made to the best of our knowledge based on the present copy, the original information contained in the issue, and available bibliographic and art-historical sources.
All photographs show the actual offered copy and are part of the condition description. Color tone and brightness may differ slightly from the original due to lighting, camera, and screen display.
I am a private individual. The offered copy comes from my private collection. The sale is conducted as a private sale and not as part of a commercial activity.
