Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Medieval bronze finger ring with a tapering bevelled ring plate and a symmetric geometric pattern, dating to the Crusader era (ca. 11th–14th century AD), weight 5.31 g, height about 25 mm, inner diameter about 16 mm, with a preserved greenish-brown patina and clear engraving, acquired from Germany in 2026.
Description from the seller
Medieval bronze ring with a distinctive, pointed-oval ring plate and incised geometric decoration. Due to its form and ornamentation, the piece can probably be assigned to the High- to Late Middle Ages, roughly the 11th–14th centuries AD.
The elongated ring plate shows a symmetrically structured geometric composition. A central field is flanked on both sides by angular or chevron-shaped elements. Several surrounding lines form a clearly pronounced frame. The engraving remains well recognizable despite age-related surface changes.
Comparable bronze rings with geometrically decorated ring plates are known from the medieval eastern Mediterranean and are sometimes associated with the cultural milieu of the Crusader era. Without a secured archaeological find context, a direct attribution to the Crusaders cannot be proven; the term “Crusader Era” therefore refers to the likely time frame and typological context.
The ring has a robust, fully preserved shank and a greenish-brown patina with evident aging and wear. The combination of the characteristic plate form and the preserved geometric decor makes the piece particularly decorative.
