Antique Eduardian drop-leaf table in dark mahogany, made in the United Kingdom, dating to circa 1850–1900, with wheels.
Description from the seller
Elegant drop-leaf table in the Edwardian style, made of dark-toned mahogany with a warm patina, dateable to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its design combines the functional sobriety inherited from the English Georgian tradition with the refined simplicity typical of Edwardian furniture, conceived to meet the needs of domestic interiors of the era.
It features a rectangular top with two side leaves that fold down, allowing the usable surface to be expanded significantly, transforming from a compact piece into a practical auxiliary or service table. The leaves are supported by an ingenious system of sliding supports, characteristic of this type of furniture, which ensured stability and ease of handling. The apron, with straight, balanced lines, rests on four turned legs of elegant profile, finished in brass and rubber caster wheels, an element that reinforces its function as a service cart or moving tea, drinks or snack table.
The lower section incorporates a wide tray or storage shelf, very useful for dishes, glassware or service pieces, and also providing structural solidity to the piece. The rich grain of the mahogany, highlighted by the dark polished finish, gives visual depth and a distinguished English character.
This is a versatile and decorative piece that preserves all the charm of British domestic furniture from the transition between late Victorian times and the Edwardian period, ideal as an auxiliary table, service cart or supporting furniture in classic, colonial or eclectic interiors.
Tracked shipping and careful packaging.
