Garnet is a mineral that typically forms in other types of stones, which is why it is found in metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary rocks. It can also indicate hydrothermal alteration of calco-silicate related to skarns.
Belongs to a complex group of silicate minerals, which crystallize as hard and dense in the isometric crystal system.
Its intense red color has created demand for this rock as a gem and semiprecious stone.

In ancient times, this gemstone was cut and worked as a gem of high value; for example, the Vikings used them as jewelry for funeral ornaments.

Meanwhile, Crusaders decorated their armor with the stone to make themselves braver in battle, and victors adorned their swords and shields with the stone for protection.
