Description from the seller
This large ovoid-shaped earthenware vase is an Art Nouveau-style production from the famous Sarreguemines factory, as evidenced by the stamped mark under its base surrounded by various model and hollow-form numbers, along with the 1881 decoration number hand-painted in red. This piece features a particularly remarkable naturalistic-inspired decoration, depicting stylized tulips in shades of purple, mauve and white, rising along tall stems and sinuous foliage in a deep green. The background displays a cream-yellow tone delicately and entirely crazed under glaze, typical of the finest artistic pottery production of the earthenware. The upper part of the short and flared neck is adorned with a stylized geometric and floral frieze reproducing with great finesse the graphic codes of Art Nouveau, highlighted by a brown border at the base. An orange and black enameled butterfly motif completes the decoration on one side of the vase body. The dimensions of this object include an impressive height of 36 centimeters, a maximum diameter of about 18 centimeters, and a neck diameter of 9.5 centimeters, for a total weight of 2 kilograms. Regarding its condition of conservation, this vase is in excellent overall condition, with only two very small chips located at the neck which are more akin to light rubbing or superficial wear marks.
