Description from the seller
Large Italian handmade wooden carved mirror, from the 1990s, inspired by Baroque and Rococo style.
The frame is entirely crafted in wood finely hand-carved, left with the natural finish, a choice that enhances the decorative details and the wood texture.
The design is distinguished by a rich and elaborate upper crest hosting a central medallion carved with a grotesque mask with strong visual impact. From the medallion delicately sprout festoons of leaves and flowers that descend along the sides of the frame, ending with volute elements and foliate decorations at the lower corners.
The central rectangular body is enriched by an inner peripheral border composed of antique oxidized mirrors, interspersed with rosettes and small flowers carved in wood. The central housing is currently empty, ready to accommodate a large main mirror, a canvas, or an art print. The back shows signs of artisanal work with original pencil workshop annotations.
A piece of furniture with great charm and dramatic presence, ideal for classical salons or to create an eclectic contrast in modern settings.
The ensemble recalls the taste of the great decorative mirrors of Italian tradition, with particular reference to Baroque and Rococo models.
Generally good condition consistent with the age. It features a beautiful natural patina of the wood and slight signs of time. Solid structure. The vintage perimeter mirrors are intact (please carefully view the photographic gallery that is an integral part of the description).
There is a small crack in the glass visible in the last photo.
The mirror comes from an artisanal workshop, and was made in the 1990s. The piece is unique and comes from a private family collection. It is therefore offered as a work of Italian decorative craftsmanship of the 20th century, and not as an old artifact.
External measurements include the decorations.
