Set of 11 pieces of light transparent hand-blown crystal from France, including ten wine glasses (14 cm high, 7 cm diameter) and a decanter bottle (32 cm high, 12.5 cm diameter) with a faceted diamond stopper, dating to around 1880–1915 with acid-engraved garlands and neoclassical motifs, condition good with minor signs of age and a slightly chipped stopper.
Description from the seller
Table service in light transparent crystal, mouth-blown and hand-engraved, consisting of 10 wine glasses with a height of 14 cm and a diameter of 7 cm, and a bottle with stopper, height 32 cm × diameter 12.5 cm. The neck of the decanter is numbered and also the stopper. Bottle with long neck and a slightly chipped (see photo) faceted stopper, a piece from an era belonging to brands of manufacture finer than the great European crystal houses of the Belle Époque period (about 1880–1915), attributable to French manufactories such as Baccarat or Saint Louis. It features an acid-etched decoration with garlands, leaves and bows, festoons, and dangling droplets, typical of the Empire or Neoclassical style with a delicate vegetal motif. The stopper is a full facets “diamond” shape (geometric facets/teardrop), typical of premium production from the late 19th or early 20th century. It is not possible to determine the exact brand with certainty from the image alone, since many historic crystal and blown glass manufactories did not apply a visible mark at the center of the object until around 1936; earlier pieces often only had a paper label. With use, washing and the passage of decades (these pieces date back over a century, approximately 1880–1915), the label inevitably detached without leaving a trace. Val Saint Lambert (Belgium) or Saint-Louis (France): Both manufactories produced crystal with this identical Louis XVI acid motif from the late 19th to the early 20th century. The cup presents a classic tulip form / trumpet-shaped goblet. The stem is slender, smooth and straight, joined to the base of the cup by a small ring/knot in solid crystal. Flat, plain circular base without decorations to balance the refined elegance of the upper part.
