Designed and manufactured by Arthur Van-Poucke in France in 2024, Le bureau de Miro is a 154 cm by 87 cm by 73 cm desk with a hand-painted green gradient surface on MDF and a resin top, two functional drawers, a plaster sculpture of the character Miro, a drawing bar with Zamak inserts, and is produced in Saint‑Etienne for in‑person pickup (shipping possible by arrangement).
Description from the seller
I am Arthur Van-Poucke and I am the designer of this desk. It is a piece that sits between a functional object and a sculpture. Each face is hand-painted in a moss green gradient, RAL 6005. It stems from a degree and from research on architecture, scenography, storytelling, and the idea of a model. It is composed of an MDF structure and a resin top. It has two functional drawers that slide well but are not perfect. It is supported by a plaster sculpture of a character named Miro. A character who is anchored in my design practice with whom I develop furniture, sculpture—which are elements of a future scenography that I am drawing.
The desk is made up of a drawing bar on which clamps slide, cast in Zamak (an alloy of aluminum and zinc). They are made entirely from parts that I designed myself. The desk is located in Saint-Étienne, France, and must be picked up in person. Shipping can be arranged if we reach an agreement. It was made in 2024–2025, and it measures 154 cm x 87 cm x 73 cm.
The gradient is actually the continuation of the watercolors of the character I invented, Miro. It is completely painted using the brush gradient technique. To me, it is a kind of watercolor sculpture. This desk is special because it is an example of sculptural insertion into an everyday object. It is a study desk, for drawing, for imagination.
