Description from the seller

Antique Art Nouveau Brass Oil Lamp – Matador 15''' Burner & ODIN Dial – Circa 1900

Description:
Superb Art Nouveau (Belle Époque, circa 1900) table oil lamp, entirely in cast and repoussé brass and complete. The lamp body and circular base are richly ornamented with superb raised vegetal motifs (stylized foliage and berries), typical of the Art Nouveau period.

Technical & Mechanical Characteristics:
Burner / Nozzle: German-type “15''' MATADOR” system (patent of the famous Ehrich & Graetz firm in Berlin), equipped with its perforated gallery and its original central dispersing disk, allowing the flame to widen.
Adjustment knob: Signed “ODIN” (high-quality distribution brand by Carl Holy, Berlin for the French market). The knob includes its original central black glass disc decorated with a radiating sun and stars.

Mechanical condition: The system is not seized: the knob turns freely and smoothly raises and lowers the fabric wick (original wick present).
Glass chimney: Original fine transparent blown glass chimney with its characteristic “ball” bulge, essential for allowing the Matador flame to flourish. In perfect condition, no cracks or chips.

Dimensions & Weight:
Total height (with glass): 59 cm
Glass chimney height: 27 cm
Base diameter: 15 cm
Total weight: 1.375 kg

Conservation status: Good overall condition for a vintage piece. All is shown in the photos. The object retains its original antique patina with light signs of oxidation and use appropriate for its age (see photos), which attest to its authenticity. Lamp is sound, complete, and ready for a collection or aesthetic restoration.
