Description from the seller
Hans Memling. The Complete Works of Dirk De Vos, published by Mercatorfonds Paribas (1994), is an authoritative and richly illustrated monograph on the Flemish master Hans Memling (c. 1430–1494). The book appeared on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his death and has since been regarded as a standard work.
The edition consists of three parts: a deeply informed historical essay, a complete catalog of Memling's known works, and thematic chapters on style, technique, and iconography. De Vos bases his work on extensive source research and imagery (more than 450 illustrations, of which 350 are in color).
The luxurious edition (with slipcase) and the thoroughness of the content make this book an indispensable source for connoisseurs and lovers of the Flemish Primitives.
The book is in very good condition and comes with a slipcase; the slipcase has stains and signs of wear.
