Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino 2018, 6 bottles of 0.75 litre.
Description from the seller
The Fuligni family lived in the early 20th century in the Tuscan Maremma. To escape malaria, the family moved to Montalcino and in 1923 purchased from Gontrano Biondi Santi the estate Cottimelli, named after the 16th-century monastery that stood there. This is the classic area where Brunello has always been made. Fuligni also bought an 18th-century palace in the center of Montalcino with beautiful vaulted cellars where wines are still aged today. In 1971, after her father's death, Maria Flora Fuligni took the family estate into her hands and changed direction. Where the wine under her father had only served family and friends, from 1975 she began bottling and selling Brunello. In total there are 12 hectares of vineyard, of which 10 hectares supply Brunello di Montalcino and 2 hectares Rosso di Montalcino. The Brunello matures first for about four months in large barriques (500-750 liters) to fix the color, and then another 2.5 years in large Slovenian-oak casks. The elegant and complex Riserva is produced only in great vintages and receives an extra year of barrel aging. This extremely elegant and refined Brunello has a garnet-red color. The complex nose is dominated by aromas of dark fruit, such as blackberries and raspberries, complemented by spicy notes. On the palate it is full and layered, with firm but velvety tannins and a slightly bitter finish. The fruity flavors and fresh acidity balance this powerful character perfectly.
Cellaring potential to 2043
medium-high, powerful, dry, nicely fruity, reasonably spicy, balanced hints of wood, fairly mineral, delicate tannins, beautifully integrated acidity
