AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The Fuligni family lived in the early 20th century in the Tuscan Maremma. To escape malaria, the family moved to Montalcino and in 1923 bought the estate Cottimelli from Gontrano Biondi Santi, named after the 16th-century monastery that stood there. This is the classical zone where Brunello has always been made. Fuligni also bought an 18th-century palace in the center of Montalcino with beautiful vaulted cellars where wines are still aged today. In 1971, after the death of her father, Maria Flora Fuligni took the family estate into her hands and set a new course. Where the wine under her father had served only family and friends, from 1975 she began bottling and selling Brunello. In total there are 12 hectares of vineyard, 10 hectares producing Brunello di Montalcino and 2 hectares Rosso di Montalcino. The Brunello matures first for about four months in large barriques (500-750 liters) to fix the color, and then for another 2.5 years in large Slavonian-oak casks. The elegant and complex Riserva is produced only in great vintages and receives an extra year of barrel aging. This extremely elegant and refined Brunello has a garnet-red color. The complex bouquet is dominated by aromas of dark fruit, such as blackcurrants and blackberries, complemented by spicy notes. On the palate it is full and layered, with firm but velvety tannins and a slightly bitter finish. The fruity flavors and fresh acidity balance this powerful character perfectly.

Cellar potential up to 2043
medium-bodied, powerful, dry, nicely fruity, reasonably spicy, balanced wood influence, fairly mineral, delicate tannins, well-integrated acidity
