Description from the seller
Vintage French Silver-Plated Champagne / Wine Ice Bucket by Roux-Marquiand (Lyon)
Description :
An authentic, mid-20th-century vintage French silver-plated ice bucket (frapieră / seau à champagne) crafted by the renowned luxury silversmith house **Roux-Marquiand**, established in Lyon in 1876.
This elegant piece features a classic cylindrical modernist design characterized by two prominent, minimalist button/knob side handles (mânere tip bumb).
It is highly redolent of the clean geometric transitions from the late Art Deco era into mid-century European hospitality ware, commonly found in high-end hotels and restaurants.
Maker's Mark / Hallmarks :
The exterior rim clearly bears the official square maker's mark (**Poinçon de maître**) containing the letters **"R M"** with their distinct central symbol. In accordance with French legal history, the strict square shape guarantees its authentic high-quality silver-plated classification (*métal arginté*).
Condition Report :
* **Exterior:** In good solid vintage condition. It displays a beautiful, warm, naturally aged amber/chihlimbar patina (tarnish) and light surface scratches consistent with decades of use and history. No major dents or structural damage.
* **Interior:** Shows beautiful rainbow-toned oxidation near the rim. Due to decades of cooling ice and bottles, the silver plating has naturally thinned over time on the interior bottom and lower walls, beautifully revealing the warm golden undertones of the underlying base metal (brass/alamă)—a genuine feature known to collectors as "bleeding".
* **Structure:** The handles are rock-solid and firmly secured by their original heavy internal manufacturing rivets.
A magnificent, authentic piece of French silverware heritage, perfect for a vintage bar cart display or a refined collector's cabinet.
**Specifications:**
* **Silversmith:** Roux-Marquiand (Lyon, France)
* **Material:** Silver-plated brass (Métal arginté)
* **Era:** Mid-20th Century (~1940s - 1960s)
* **Country of Origin:** France
Dimensions : 19 cm × 22.5 cm × 17.5 cm
The product will be professionally packed and sent safely to your address by local post.
