Description from the seller
Essay by Bruce Hainley.
89 four-colour plates.
ISBN 1-931885-34-6 / 978-1-931885-34-8.
Published in a first edition of 4,000 copies.
This large-format photobook presents the first substantial survey of Burton’s photographic work made in and around the Californian adult-film industry. Rather than concentrating on explicit performance, Burton turns his attention to the constructed environments, performers, domestic interiors, props and incidental moments surrounding the production of pornography. The resulting photographs move between documentary observation and carefully composed imagery, creating an unusual portrait of the spaces and people behind the industry.
The hardcover volume itself is clean and firmly bound, with bright, well-preserved pages. The illustrated dust jacket shows visible surface wear, including a long scratch/crease to the front, fading on the spine, along with light rubbing and minor edge and corner wear. Please refer to the photographs for the precise condition.
