Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 2,8/18 cm T with Flektoskop for Contax, dating to 1940–1950, in good physical condition and tested and in working order.
Description from the seller
Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 1:2.8 f=18 cm « T », No. 2682482, in black finish, mounted on its Flektoskop Carl Zeiss Jena reflex box No. 10709.
THE ITEM
The Sonnar 2.8/18 cm, nicknamed “Olympia-Sonnar” by collectors, is the bright telephoto designed by Zeiss for the 1936 Games. This specimen belongs to the Flektoskop generation, which converts a Contax rangefinder into a viewfinder reflex camera with ground-glass focusing.
This is the late variant painted black with anti-reflective coating T (red marking). The optical number corresponds to 1941 production. These black T-treated versions were produced in very small series, unlike the far more widespread chrome versions.
The Flektoskop is in bright hammered black lacquer, with its plate “Flektoskop – Carl Zeiss Jena – 10709”. It features a base with a thread for a tripod.
COMPATIBILITY
Contax rangefinder mount (Contax II, III, IIa, IIIa). Not suitable for Contax/Yashica SLRs.
