Description from the seller

An antique Swedish family Bible, “Illustrerad Familje-Bibel,” from Stockholm, Fröléen & Co.
There were several editions at the time, but this one is from 1924. So this year this beautiful book celebrates its hundredth birthday.
All in Swedish.
First 16 pages with left page featuring a large scene of Jesus by C. Bloch and on the right a decorated page to write on (everything is unwritten). Then about 1252 pages (canonical Old Testament books), 228 pages (apocryphal Old Testament books) + index 12 pages, a color map of Palestine, 472 pages (New Testament), a color map of Palestine and Sinai, index 16 pages. With numerous full-page engravings by Doré and others and very numerous drawings, engravings and sometimes photographs between the texts. All black-and-white. So a Bible with a lot of visual guidance (the locations, ancient writings and themes according to the subject in the texts).
24 x 31.50 x 9.50 cm, 6.750 kg. A leather binding with decorative relief and gilded titles. The edges of the pages are also gilded. It is therefore a very well-kept and imposing work for its time for Swedish Christian families.
The leather binding shows wear, especially along the edges and the hinge lines with the spine. The spine at the top and bottom shows a bit more wear. 2 black spots on the back top. The block is on smooth paper (apart from the color maps on thicker paper) and inside is very nice and complete.
Shipped insured.
