Description from the seller

Monumental Art Deco Bronze Flight

Irénée Rochard (ca. 1930)

A spectacular and powerfully stylized Art Deco bronze artwork by the renowned French animal sculptor Irénée Rochard. With an impressive wingspan of no less than 39 cm, this streamlined swallow captures the pure essence of the 1930s: speed, aerodynamic form, and classic French elegance.

The sculpture slices diagonally through the air and is captured in a dynamic flight pose above a stylized branch. The sharp, intricate detailing in the feather segments forms a beautiful contrast with the clean, flowing lines of the body. The bronze is finished with a deep, dark patina that reveals subtle, warm bronze tones along the altitudinal lines. The piece is mounted on a heavy, architectural pedestal of layered marble with onyx. At the front is a black marble accent on which the signature "ROCHARD" is clearly engraved.

Specifications:
France, Art Deco (ca. 1930)
Patinated bronze on layered marble and onyx
Wingspan: 39 cm
Length: 23 cm (head to tail)
Pedestal dimensions: 30 x 11.5 x 3.5 cm
Weight: 3.94 kg

Condition:
The bronze piece is in excellent, authentic condition with no breaks, cracks, or restorations. The original bronze patina shows a beautiful age patina. The marble base has a discreet chip at the rear, inherent to its age and not visible from the front.
