Gorgeous and highly decorative vintage coffee/tea service with an M.R. shield mark.
Richly executed white porcelain service with a striking combination of a cobalt-blue rim with a dotted/relief-like effect, red enamel bands, flowers in pink/red/yellow/blue/green, lots of gold, fully gilded handles, three gold feet under the cups, three gold feet under the teapot.
Very decorative Rococo form. The set is hand-painted.
Beautiful complete set, no chips/cracks, looks unused
The design of the set is notably rich:
cobalt-blue rim with a dotted/relief-like effect, red enamel bands, flowers in pink/red/yellow/blue/green, lots of gold, fully gilded handles, three gold feet under the cups;
three gold feet under the teapot, very decorative Rococo form.
The set consists of 15 pieces
6 cups, height 6.5 cm
6 matching saucers
1 coffee/tea pot with lid, height 21 cm
1 sugar pot with lid
1 milk/cream jug
On the underside of the pieces there is a blue M.R. shield mark. No other factory, pattern or country marks have been found.
The exact manufacturer and pattern are not yet identified with certainty. The M.R. shield appears with several European/American trade and ceramic brands; therefore I offer it consciously as M.R.-marked vintage dinnerware and not as an unproven Marzi & Remy- or Marks & Rosenfeld-service.
Period: presumably mid-20th century.
