Nested cup weights - Patinated bronze - Nuremberg weights

Bronze Nürnberg weight set, 8.5 cm diameter, 14 cm tall at the top of the handle. Dated between the 18th and 19th centuries, this historical instrument was used to weigh precious coins such as gold and silver and for pharmaceutical uses. Composed of several cup weights ("nest of weights") nested within each other inside a container. The scale is complete with all its pieces. It features a handle shaped like a bull's head and the inscriptions on the lid are the raised numbers that usually indicate the measurement value.
