Tall floor-standing coat rack of Italian craftsmanship, dating from 1960–1970, featuring a solid wood shaft with a twisted lower column and bulbous upper turning, a heavy tripodal brass base with Caryatid figures, and a brass volute-cap top with multiple coat and hat hooks, in good vintage condition with a natural patina.
Description from the seller
Elegant and imposing floor-standing coat rack (hall tree) of Italian artisanal manufacture, dating from the period between the late 1960s and the early 1970s. The piece stands out for a refined combination of materials and styles, recalling an Eclectic and Neobaroque taste.
The central shaft is made of solid wood finely worked: the lower half features a splendid twisted-column finish, while the upper part is turned into a bulb shape.
The stability of the structure is guaranteed by a heavy and scenographic tripod made of brushed brass alloy, where each leg is adorned with an anthropomorphic female figure (Caryatid/Siren) finely detailed.
The upper crown (hat-cap) is also wrought in brass with volutes and presents multiple hooks for coats and hats. The object presents itself in good vintage overall condition. The wood retains a beautiful luster, the mechanism and the structure are stable. It shows a natural patina of time and slight oxidation on the brass parts that enhance its retro charm.
