Description from the seller
Antique Porcelain White Desk Inkwell with Bronze/Brass – Fine '800s / Early '900s
Height cm 12, base cm 8.5 x 8.5, weight g 465
Splendid and elegant antique desk inkwell, dating to the second half of the 19th century or the very early 20th century (full Eclectic / Late Victorian period).
The object features a refined cylindrical body and a domed lid made of fine white porcelain, mounted on a solid support structure in gilded bronze with a square base enriched by a coordinated ceramic insert.
The lid is equipped with a sturdy metal hinge perfectly functioning, which reveals the internal housing.
The inkwell retains its original removable internal cup (also in white porcelain), a fundamental component and often lost over time, used to hold the ink.
At the bottom of the ceramic base there is a blue stamp/mark under glaze, partially faded by time, testifying to the authenticity and period craftsmanship. The base assembly features the characteristic straight-bladed old screws.
The piece is presented in excellent vintage/antiquarian condition. The porcelain shows no obvious crazing or chipping. The metal structure retains its beautiful original patina of the time, which attests to its authenticity (intentionally not polished to preserve its historical charm). The lid hinge opens and closes correctly.
A collectible piece ideal for enriching important desks, representative offices, or for lovers of antique writing artifacts.
The photos are to be considered an integral part of the description; shipping will be fast and insured for full value. We do not ship outside Europe.
At the end of the auction please check the message center where you will receive photos of the packaging and instructions for receipt.
