Kula Kömürcü - Carpet - 198 cm - 132 cm - Kula

Kömürcü means coal merchant. The name was given because of the dark background. The length measures 198, including the two kilim edges. Kula carpets usually have a short fringe. In this rug they are tucked away. In the hexagonal central field, two vases are depicted facing each other from which a profusion of flowers springs. The pile is in very good condition. The dark background is corroded. A sign that natural dyestuffs have been used. It gives the rug relief and contrasts nicely with steel blue and cyclamen red. Stylization in the inner and outer borders, together with the Tree of Life, forms a single whole. A collector’s piece with a strong presence.
