First edition of this important photographic work by one of the major figures of post-war German photography. The book presents Schmidt’s series Frauen, produced between 1996 and 1999, comprising stark black-and-white portraits and studies of women.
Published in conjunction with the exhibitions How You Look at It. Fotografien des 20. Jahrhunderts at the Sprengel Museum Hannover and Städelsches Kunstinstitut, Frankfurt, and Michael Schmidt: Frauen at the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf.
Hardcover cloth binding with the original transparent printed protective jacket. 140 pages with numerous photographic reproductions.
Condition is very good overall. The binding is firm and the interior is clean and well preserved. There is light handling and shelf wear to the transparent outer jacket and minor wear around the edges/corners, consistent with age. Please refer to the photographs for the precise condition.
