Description from the seller

WMF Silver-Plated Oval Serving Tray – Art Nouveau / Jugendstil Period – Louis XV Revival – Germany – ca. 1905–1915

An impressive and generously sized silver-plated serving tray produced by the prestigious German silversmith WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) during the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) period, circa 1905–1915.

Although created during the golden age of Art Nouveau, this elegant tray beautifully reflects the enduring influence of the French Louis XV Revival style. The flowing rocaille contours, finely sculpted shell motifs and graceful openwork handles combine classical French elegance with the exceptional craftsmanship for which WMF became internationally renowned.

Founded in 1880 in Geislingen an der Steige, Germany, WMF quickly established itself as one of Europe's finest manufacturers of luxury silver-plated tableware. Its creations furnished prestigious hotels, grand residences and luxury ocean liners, becoming synonymous with quality, durability and timeless design. Early WMF pieces from the Art Nouveau era remain highly sought after by collectors and interior designers alike.

The tray bears the original WMF ostrich hallmark with the I/O silver-plating mark, confirming an authentic early twentieth-century production.

Its generous dimensions make it ideal for serving coffee, tea, cocktails or pastries, while it also functions beautifully as a centrepiece for a dining table, sideboard or coffee table. The elegant design lends itself perfectly to both classic interiors and contemporary luxury décor.
