Description from the seller
Large Oval Soup Tureen "June" - Richard Ceramic Society (Late 19th Century) + Tray Included as a Gift
• Manufacture: Richard Ceramic Society (San Cristoforo, Milan)
• Era: Late 19th century (pre-Ginori fusion period, circa 1873-1896)
• Series / Pattern: "June" (multicolored floral pattern with blue cornflowers and gold buttons)
• Material: Period strong earthenware
• Marks and Labels: Brown-penned mark "SOC CER RICHARD", series name "Giugno" in script, and raw-number gauge 16 impressed on the base.
Dimensions and Weight of the Tureen (Main Lot):
• Measurements: Length 34 cm (from handle to handle) | Width 19.5 cm | Height 19 cm (including lid)
• Weight: 2,113 grams
Condition of the Tureen:
Excellent structural and conservation condition for the period. The body and lid are fully intact, without breaks, chips, or previous restorations. It shows natural and very slight wear from age and the characteristic, charming crazing of the original glaze that certifies its authenticity and age.
Together with the tureen is shipped its original coordinated serving tray.
• Tray dimensions: 40 cm x 25.5 cm
• Tray weight: 1,190 grams
• Tray condition: Due to evident structural damage from use and time (prominent chips and edge losses, superficial cracks and dark staining from absorption on the bottom, as clearly shown in the detailed photos), the tray is not counted toward the lot value and is given free of charge (as a gift). It remains a beautiful vintage display piece to complete the historical set or for lovers of rustic/shabby chic style.
Seller's Story
For over 20 years, I have dedicated myself passionately to the search for and trading of special, rare, curious objects from any era.
Every piece I select has something that catches my attention: it can be the shape, the story, the unusual aspect, or simply that detail that makes it unique.
I am always searching for objects that speak, that tell something to those who know how to listen.
I choose them carefully, photograph them honestly, and describe them as accurately as possible.
Selling on this Catawiki to share this passion with those who, like me, love to surround themselves with things with a soul.
