Description from the seller
An extremely rare and impressive 'Épreuve d'Artiste' (EA) lithograph by Belgian artist Jaak De Koninck, portraying the nostalgic world of aviation under his well-known pseudonym Jack Learoy. This work, titled "As Built", is an iconic piece from his Starbrook Airlines oeuvre and shows two pilots on the tarmac beside a striking four-engine propeller aircraft, surrounded by technical sketches and the distinctive 'AS BUILT' stamp.
What makes this lot particularly appealing, besides the strictly limited EA edition, is the spectacular presentation. The piece is housed in a heavy, custom-made aluminum frame fitted with industrial rivets. This robust framing breathes the atmosphere of early aviation and aircraft manufacturing, and literally and figuratively elevates the artwork to a higher level.
