About the estate
Antinori. This name may be familiar to you, as would be in France “Baron de Rothschild.” This true Italian dynasty has been illuminating Italian wine since 1385.
The first traces of the family go back even earlier, in 1179 when a certain Accarisio di Antinoro sold lands to the monastery of Passignano; Badia a Passignano is today one of the group’s many estates… The arrival in Florence of the Antinori marks the starting point of their social and economic ascent – silk trade and wine, political and artistic involvement, alliances with the Medici… The wines begin to gain recognition under a defined brand, to be exported and to stand out (the jury prize at the Vienna World's Fair in 1873). Family members overflow with creativity and ingenuity to stay at the forefront, in both production and marketing.
In the 1960s-1970s, the family participates in the revolution of the super-Tuscans - age-worthy wines in the style of great Bordeaux - and in their export worldwide with their cuvées: Tignanello, Solaia...
Today, after 26 generations have passed, the story continues; the group is chaired by Albiera Antinori, supported by her sisters, Allegra and Alessia, following their father Marchese Piero Antinori.

This perfumed and flavorful red unveils on the nose aromas of undergrowth, plum, blue flower, cacao and camphor. The palate, silky and elegant, offers flavors of juicy Marasca cherry, ripe blackberry, licorice, tobacco and a subtle gamey note. Silky tannins and a bright acidity give it balance and elegance. Best enjoyed by 2036. Kerin O'Keefe
