Description from the seller
Antique gilded metal lectern/desk, richly decorated. Ecclesiastical altar lectern in Gothic Revival style. Probably from the early 1900s, Italian origin, but I am not certain.
I am selling an elegant and distinctive table lectern/desk, made of gilded brass with a gold finish and richly pierced and ornamental decorations.
It features four bulging corner columns adorned with colored paste glass gems cut as cabochons (one missing), typical of sacred metalwork from the late 19th century.
The structure is highly elaborate: a pierced rectangular base, decorative feet, ornamental motifs and small colored inserts.
Support surface – hinged and adjustable with a brass arm – with a large trilobed cross.
The piece has a deliberately antique look and shows signs of age, patina, abrasions and some finish imperfections, visible in the photographs, which are part of its character.
It is a particularly striking object, suitable both as a furnishing element and as a lectern for books, sheet music, or other items.
Dimensions: 32 cm × 35 cm × 27 cm
Condition: good for its age and type, with evident signs of time.
Visible in Parma, Italy.
Possible local pickup.
