Art Deco Boch Frères Keramis pitcher model 1472 designed by Raymond Chevalier in fine faience from Belgium, with a height of 22 cm, width 14 cm, depth 19 cm, and weight 1 kg, in good condition with light signs of age wear.
Description from the seller
This Art Deco period pitcher or handled vase is an aesthetically rich creation from the workshops of the famous Belgian earthenware factory Boch Frères Keramis. The piece corresponds to shape model number 1472 designed by artistic director Raymond Chevalier, who succeeded Charles Catteau and left his mark on the manufactory with his opulent compositions. The object features a sophisticated silhouette combining a highly bulbous globular base and a wide flared trumpet neck fitted with a subtle pouring spout, all connected by a tall angular ochre-orange geometric handle. The intense polychrome decoration displays large blooming peony or chrysanthemum flowers in yellow and white outlined in black, accompanied by stylized emerald green foliage and clusters of red berries that stand out beautifully against a satin matte black background. The interior of the neck surprises with a superb monochrome glossy turquoise blue glaze offering a striking contrast with the exterior.
The item measures a total height of 22 cm, a maximum length of 19 cm including the handle, and a depth of 14 cm for an individual weight of 1000 g. The underside of the white base features the official circular stamp of the Boch Frères La Louvière manufactory printed underglaze, completed by the mention Made in Belgium and the handwritten or impressed inscriptions of the shape model number 1472 as well as the pattern index 81. The overall condition of preservation of this collectible ceramic is good, the structure showing no major chips, cracks or fleabites on the delicate rim of the neck or on the base. One notes only some light superficial signs of wear under the foot and minor friction marks inherent to its age and past use.
