Description from the seller
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Château de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin Perrin Family 2013
• Robert Parker / The Wine Advocate: 96+/100
The guide describes this wine as a “monster” of power that has preserved an incredible mineral core combined with intense black and blue fruits.
• James Suckling: 98/100
Suckling notes an extremely aromatic nose of blackberry and bloom, with silky tannins and a magnificent elegance brought by the old Mourvèdre
Hommage à Jacques Perrin 2013 of Château de Beaucastel is an exceptional cuvée in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, worldwide renowned for its rarity and power.
Entirely cultivated biologically, the Château de Beaucastel vineyard produces one of the best Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the appellation. The vineyard's creation dates back to the 16th century: Pierre de Beaucastel acquired land in Coudoulet in 1549. It is the arms of this illustrious family that appear on the bottles and labels. After the Beaucastels, the Tramier family took over the property and entrusted it to the Perrins. Through the generations, the same success has prevailed and the know-how is admirably transmitted, as well as the innovative spirit. This is embodied, for example, in Jacques Perrin, father of Jean-Pierre and François, for whom the “Hommage à Jacques Perrin” was created, a very beautiful Mourvèdre cuvée produced only in the best years.
Today, the two winemakers are surrounded by seven of their children, Jacques Perrin, who represent the fifth generation, have taken up the mantle.
The vineyards cover 130 hectares, of which only 100 are cultivated, and are planted with thirteen permitted grape varieties. Controlled yields, “homemade” compost instead of chemical fertilizers, and biological farming (this was the first estate in the Rhône Valley to adopt these methods as early as 1950 and biodynamics in 1974) are the secrets of vineyard work.
On the winemaking side, destemmed grapes are then vinified in concrete tanks, foudres, or barriques, separately, then blended and aged in these same vessels. In response to the wish to extend aging and have more space to work the wines, the 5th generation undertook the construction of a new cellar, inaugurated in May 2025. This project is a true success, which not only meets the needs of the winemakers but was carried out by “putting the terroir vertically,” combining sun, wind, and soils, in a broad ecological reflection.
For fifteen years, the Perrins have acquired their own vineyards in other appellations… with the ambition of becoming THE specialists of the southern Rhône Valley.

About the cuvée
This cuvée has been produced since 1989 and was conceived by Jacques Perrin’s descendants to honor his visionary spirit. Indeed, his family found in one of his workbooks the wish to plant more Mourvèdre. Thus, this wine is vinified from this single grape variety, sourced from old vines on the estate, and only when the vintage qualitatively permits. It happens that this variety resists climate warming very well. It is a jewel that owes its renown to aging in a single foudre each year, allowing the production of between 5,000 and 6,000 bottles.
A superb dark ruby color characterizes this wine, which is both massive and intense. It develops magnificent aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, spices, leather, and game. Very full-bodied on the palate, it has a spectacular aging potential of at least ten years.
The Tribute to Jacques Perrin 2013 of Château de Beaucastel is an exceptional vintage in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, recognized worldwide for its rarity and power.
